We are excited to announce the addition of two new members to the Vernal team! Scott Vanson, Ph.D. and JJ Bivona, Ph.D. are bringing their mRNA and DNA experience to Vernal to help accelerate our growth. A little about Scott and JJ:
Scott Vanson, Ph.D. is a New Hampshire native with a BA in biochemistry from Saint Anselm College and a Ph.D. in Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Science from the University of Vermont. Working under Dr. Sylvie Doublié at UVM, he studied the structure of DNA repair enzymes. Outside of the lab, his hobbies include hiking, computers, and motorcycles.
JJ Bivona, Ph.D. grew up in Connecticut and attended UConn where he earned his BS in Biological Sciences. From there, JJ received his Ph.D. in Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Science from the University of Vermont. While at UVM he obtained funding for a project to commandeer post-exercise muscle hypertrophy to enhance the translation of mRNA vaccines. During this project he also developed an open-source exercise device for mice and gained an appreciation for mRNA delivery and lipid nanoparticle synthesis. In his spare time, JJ enjoys skiing, flag football, motorcycles, and his dog, Millie.
We welcome and are delighted to have Scott and JJ onboard and as part of our growing Vernal team.
